Facies variations in response to tectonic evolution, climate and sea-level changes since the Late Cretaceous in Wuhu region, Eastern China

چکیده

Eastern China has a complex environmental dynamics system in the western Pacific tectonic domain, and study of its sedimentary records controlled by movements is distinctly significant for exploring sea-land interactions, global climate change sea level fluctuations. A reliable OSL (Optically Stimulated Luminescence) chronostratigraphic framework was established based on systematic investigation stratigraphic lithology boreholes Wuhu area, China, depositional environment since Late Cretaceous reconstructed multiple proxies. Significant regional changes activity Mesozoic indicate that Yanshan movement Neotectonic evolution basins fracture tectonics area influenced paleo-geographic patterns geotectonic context. Since Middle Pleistocene, temperature trends were split into six stages, four which (MIS 6, 4, 3 2) can be categorized as periods decline, with MIS 1 being period increase. The other phase 5) characterized violent fluctuations level, increase 5a, 5c 5e decrease 5b 5d. Sedimentary process eastern are mainly activity, specific also combined effects level.

Late Quaternary sea-level and tectonic changes in northeast Fiji

The islands of northeast Fiji studied are all the emergent parts of the northern end of the Lau^Colville Ridge, a remnant island arc which has been rising for most of the Quaternary. Within the study area, investigations of coastal landforms (primarily emerged notches and shore platforms) and emerged coral reefs allow rates of tectonic movements to be calculated. The Vanuabalavu Island group is...

Palynomorphs’ response to sea-level fluctuations: a case study from Late Cretaceous – Paleocene, Gurpi Formation, SW Iran

Statistical studies on Palynology contents of Late Cretaceous to Paleocene age Gurpi Formation in a surface section in Zagros Basin,SW Iran indicate changes in abundance, species diversity, ratio of Spiniferites to Cyclonephelium (S/C), palynological marine index(PMI) values and organic facies. These palynological variations clearly reflect fluctuations in relative sea-level and depositionalenv...
